Every year in the Little League World Series you see the most amazing youth baseball pitchers throwing incredible fastballs, curve balls and even change-ups. Although it is awesome to see, most youth baseball and Little League pitchers don't throw as fast. In fact, many youth baseball leagues don't even allow pitchers to throw curveballs.
So what can a youth baseball coach do to get an advantage in a youth baseball league? One of the best youth baseball pitching tips is to use the entire mound.
For Little League and other youth baseball league pitchers who have mastered the strike zone, youth baseball coaches can have them throw the pitch from the left, right and center of the mound. Moving back and forth on the mound can actually give the batter the impression that the pitcher is throwing different kinds of pitches because the trajectory of the pitch is different. This great youth baseball pitching tip is a great way to help the young pitcher be more effective on batters the second and third time around.
Youth baseball coaches can also use this pitching tip to take advantage when hitters are standing too close or too far from the plate. Although this baseball pitching tip sounds so simple, it is not often used in youth baseball.
Simply by changing the starting point of the pitcher's delivery can create at least six different looks. The pitcher can start at the left side of the rubber and throw to the left or right side of the plate - that's 2 different looks. The youth baseball pitcher can do the same from the middle and the right side of the rubber as well - for a total of 6 different looks.
So even though most youth baseball leagues do not allow curve balls, youth baseball pitchers can make one pitch into six. That is enough to frustrate the hitter and keep them guessing what on what you're pitcher will throw next.
