Baseball is more than a game, it is an opportunity to share some family time. You can go to a major or minor league baseball game or you can go in the backyard and have a family wiffle ball game. Both are outstanding ways to spend family time and are great vehicles for teaching kids about baseball.

Attending A Major League Baseball Game
There is nothing like going to a major league baseball game. Although it can be overwhelming for the very young. Minor league baseball parks are perfect for providing the family experience.
The Minor League clubs have their mascots roaming the crowd, they have contests for the kids and even let some of the kids on the field. Going to a major league or minor league baseball game is a great way to introduce baseball to your kids while spends time as a family.

You can teach kids baseball by grabbing a scorecard and having the kids help enter the starting lineups. Have them search the baseball scorebook for the starting players positions, uniform numbers and the spelling of the player's name(s). Make sure to save that book - the memories of that day will come alive when you open it in the future. It's something to bring out sometime down the road, at a family reunion or when you want to reminisce.

Play Some Wiffle
Baseball can be fun for the whole family by going in the backyard and having a simple game of wiffle ball. Wiffle ball offers many lessons for teaching kids baseball. And wiffle ball is lots of fun and very safe. Even mom and sis will have no problem engaging in a little wiffle ball in the backyard.

Wiffle ball is great because you can have grandpa and 3 year old Mikey playing together - talk about memories. Some of the adults can even relive their glory days; the young ones can be proud of their first hit. Wiffle ball is great for everyone!

If you have very young ones playing in the wiffle ball game you should use a hitting Tee so they can hit the ball. You can even let the older kids pitch. Have even more fun and divide the teams in the "old folks" and the "young guns". I'm smiling right now just thinking about it.
